GERRISH CHIROPRATIC COVID 19 PROTOCOL
If a person tests positive that has been in contact with or inside Gerrish Chiropractic that result is automatically reported to Maine CDC (Center for Disease Control) by the laboratory department – including their contact information listed on the lab requisition slip.
The Maine CDC then reaches out to that person if they have a Maine address listed – (if they have an out of state address that state’s CDC is called and they will reach out to the positive person).
The provider who ordered the test calls the person and notifies them of the positive Covid test and the need for them to isolate – and for their household contacts to quarantine.
The Maine CDC when they call the positive case asks the person about their symptoms, and all the information about their close contacts from the time period of 2 days prior to the time when the lab was drawn to that time that contact with the individual is made. The Maine CDC reaches out to all the close contacts of the individual. The Maine CDC also determines if there was prolonged contact in any business and notifies that business. All the contacts are not told Who the positive case was only that there was one. Close contacts must then quarantine for 14 days and do symptom monitoring for 14 days. Businesses must determine how many staff were potentially exposed – and since those who had close contact must quarantine can they remain open or not.
Also, the business must determine if they need to close for a period for a deep cleaning.
The CDC will help guide those decisions if asked.
If the positive person is a worker at the business, then the same process occurs.
If a patient, doctor or employee test positive, we would close for a minimum of 14 days with in that closed period we would deep clean the inside of building and equipment with guidelines set forth by Maine CDC.
*Note close contact is defined as 15 minutes or greater within 6 feet of the individual.
